Cafe Etico Summer 2022 Newsletter
Here are a few highlights of our very busy past few months. We are thrilled to be out-and-about in person again!
… and we’re back!
BCTF Social Justice Conference
The BCTF Social Justice Conference was the first indoor event at which Café Etico had the pleasure of seeing our supporters in person after two years!
Carol, Nancy, and Anne say "thanks" to all of you who stopped by to pick up your favourite Café Etico coffee or chocolate (and other treats!), or to just to say "hello" and have a chat.
Pandora Park Community Market
Brought to you in part by Kiwassa Neighbourhood House the Pandora Park Community Market returns this summer on the last Wednesday of the month through October.
Our volunteers and CoDev staff will be hanging around on Wednesday, June 29th, 2:00-5:00 pm, so be sure to pop by for coffee, chocolate, and to visit all the other great vendors, enjoy some entertainment, and meet your neighbours!
A Valuable Partnership with VALU Co-op!
Café Etico has been partnering with The Vancouver Artists Labour Union (VALU) Cooperative to provide specially branded packages of coffee to Vancouver area labour unions.
We've been proud to collaborate with VALU on products for HEU, HSA, BC Federation of Labour, and at the 2021 CLC Convention.
VALU is a fully unionized and democratically run workers' co-operative that aims to transform labour practices with the arts and cultural sector. Founding members chartered The Arts and Cultural Workers Union, IATSE Local B-778, established in January 2020. The co-operative produces high quality, sustainably made campaign materials and creative services right. Check out their website at valucoop.ca to see all they do.
etc.
Café Etico Supports Fresh Roots
Don't miss Fresh Roots 'Before Sunset Fundraiser', 4:30-7:30, Thursday, July 7th.
Tickets include a wide selection of tasting plates and a grazing table featuring lovingly prepared meat, seafood and vegetable-based dishes created by Chef TJ Conwi of Ono Vancouver and his team and Sirius Food Truck and an extra-special sustainable seafood creation by Chef Robert Clark, Chief Culinary Officer at Organic Ocean, member of Order of Canada, founder of The BC Spot Prawn Festival amongst many other accolades. All capped off with sweet treats from Earnest Ice Cream and Kafka’s Coffee.
Cafe Etico provided a gift basket for the silent auction and other goodies to help make this a fantastic event!
A Fond Farewell To The East End Food Co-op (EEFC)
The EEFC was a long-time partner and supporter of Café Etico, we enjoyed working with them these many years.
It is with a heavy heart that we had to say good-bye to this great local institution.
Thank you, and may you inspire many more to come!
